Close to my first year ...

almost done with the first year here in Sweden, it's been amazing all the trips, all the people, all the life style I got since I came here, now I'm focusing all my energies in trying to learn some swedish, since I plan to stay here longer it will be handy. At least I can now read some and hopefully soon be able to communicate some basic.

4 cities in 10 days Stockholm, Brussels, Valencia and Barcelona

it was a great and exhausting experience, and I end up sick but it was great to visit old friends and get to know new ones.

Everything started in Stockholm, I had to vote for the Colombian congress there at the Colombian Embassy, so I stopped there for 2 days, I got to see the national museum and some members of AIESEC Stockholm.

After this, my next stop was in Brussels, where I visited some of my friends from AIESEC Colombia, I got to taste the Belgium beers and did a walk around this nice city.

I loved the festival of Valencia called "Las Fallas", it is a pity how such a nice sculptures get burned after the festival.

I hardly slept in Valencia, so when I arrived to Barcelona I was really tired, I met my friends and went out for a drink but got a bit sick the day after, so even if I walked all day I wasn't feeling that good.

The best thing was to arrive home and start to take a rest from my hard trip and get ready for the next one which was going to be just after a few days.

Once again Paris!! Lovely city

During November I went to Paris with some friends for 5 days, It was very nice to be back in Paris after several years since my last trip there. Paris is such a nice city to walk around, to enjoy the wines and the food.

We walked a lot, and visit all the main tourist attractions here including the Louvre museum, the Eiffel Tower, Champs de Elysees, Notre Dame, Arc d Triumph, Pompidou Center, Napoleon's thumb among others.

We had a very nice sunny days and the last day I visit a friend from Colombia who is studying a PhD in Paris since September and we used to work on the same University back in Colombia.

After this trip I had to stop traveling and focus more on my studies until December when is the Christmas break for the University.

GERMANY: Berlin!! finally i could visit Berlin

The time has come for me to get to know Berlin. Since my last time in Europe when I lived in Amsterdam, I always wanted to go to Berlin, but for diverse situations I couldn't visit this city.

I arrange this trip with 2 friends, and a friend offered us a place to stay there. We spend 5 days which was enough to see the most important tourist attractions in the city.

We visit several places, among them were the parliament, the city hall, the Brandenburg gate, Pergamon museum, Alexanderplatz, Radio tower, we also got the opportunity to visit the very impressive memorial concentration camp called Sachsenhausen, as a football fan I also visited the Berlin Olympic stadium .

It was a very nice trip to remember, specially because on the way back we almost lost the flight and we had to run a lot!!

Finland in Ferry

In September with some friends I decided to go to Finland with the ferry of Vikinglines, it was only for the weekend but it was a lot of fun.

For me was the first time to travel in such a way, we could spend only a few hours in Helsinki because the ferry was during the whole night on the way there, we had a room to sleep shared with my friends.

During the night the boat has a bar and a discotheque so we enjoyed there a few drinks and danced the most of the time.

About Helsinki what I could see was only a few things, but seems to me a lovely place to live, very quiet with nice squares and parks to chill out. But I'm pretty sure there are a lot of things more to say about it, so I hope to discover this things the next time I get there.

Life in Sweden

Im currently living in Sweden since the 21st August to study at the Linköping University a Master program in Computer Science.

The life in this Swedish town is very quiet and comfortable, I have a very nice flat located only 5 minutes biking from the University, around 10 minutes biking from the city center. Linköping is not that big, it has around 140.000 inhabitants and it is the 5th biggest city in Sweden. It is located in the center south part of Sweden, around 2 or 3 hours by train or bus from Stockholm.

I don't have too many friends but I usually see them on Tuesdays nights in a local bar called HG, there are a lot students here so the parties and the pubs are fun and a bit affordable compared to Swedish prices.

I'm also very lucky, that not far from my town there is an airport where the company Ryanair flights. This company has very cheap flights all around Europe, so this is how I started to flight around Europe during this year to several destinies, I try to go to one different place every month, since I'm from Colombia you never get the chance there to flight at this low price so I'm taking advantage of this now that I can.

However my first trip wasn't flying but in September, just before my birthday is where the adventure of my trips begins...

Leaving Medellin ... Sweden here we go

When the time finally come to start my trip, my family prepared a farewell party with all my friends and cousins. Around 50 people came to say good bye and wish me the best for my coming years in Sweden.

I travel from Medellin to New York, and stayed there for 7 days before traveling to Stockholm. Over there I stayed first with a friend for the weekend and then I went to visit my cousin Lina, but she wasn't unfortunately there so I stayed with her husband Jersson at their place.

I did during those days several things, I prepare my luggages again with some new clothes and gadgets I bought by internet days before, I also went to the big malls and spend one day in New York city.

I took a train to go to the Newark airport which was around 2 hours away from the place I was staying, I arrived very earlier for the flight so I spend around 6 hours waiting for the plane. The flight was pleasant.

Finally I arrived to Arlanda Aiport in Stockholm, I stayed there again for around 3 hours waiting for my train and when it finally arrived I was very tired from the hole journey. Julian, a friend of a friend was waiting for me at the train station in Linköping, he brought me to my new flat located in Ryds, which I had rented before.

and finally I arrived to Sweden!!
